A new friend by andreshanti A new friend by andreshanti
I have to say one thing: the storyline [or should I say Historyline? lol] for this comic strip ended up so long that I had to divide it into three.
This is the first one to come on line.

It's the way America was divided among European countries.
As soon as they discovered a new continent acroos the sea, they rushed to get all of it's treasures, leaving America with nothing.

Next one will feature the land division.

South American Way is inspired by Humon's Scandinavia and the World [link]

To an extent the colonization of the Americas also involved other nations, namely the Dutch. The Swedish were in New Jersey until the Dutch ruined their colony. Also the Fugger family (Germans) had a monopoly in Venezuela. Silesian mining experts were essential to the production of silver in Zacatecas. Also among the conquistadors that marched into the plaza at Cajamarca were a few Italians.

In short, the conquest and colonization of the Americas is a pan - European enterprise.

I really love your comics!
The sad thing is this is pretty much how it went down, and the Americas really sufferd for it. Historically, Culturally, and most definitely the Native people.

Yeah, I tried to make the most fun out of it but it's a really sad story that keeps on going until today. You see there are countries like French Guyana that haven't got the chance of freedom.

I think she's pretty busy doing so much artwork for her comics.

I've featured some of her characters when I thought they wouldn't go against her ideas and conception. I've created my own England character because England had a master role on the Americas colonization and Humon could disagree at some points.

But I'd sure love to do a colaboration with her!

I have some ideas to work on first.
I need to develop the other South American characters and watch the World Cup games to do some artwork.

And I still have another comic strip ready to be uploaded, featuring Haiti... but I don't wanna mess in that case right now! ;)

Europe character design is based on Enlčvement d'Europe by Nöel-Nicolas Coypel [link]

America is based on some pre-Columbian civilization costumes because there was where the new land was discovered.
