Description

This took me an eternity to finish!
I once uploaded the sketch of it, but it tuned out a lot different in terms of the background.

I think this comes to an argument between Disney Studios and MGM Studios... who can tell the craziest children story EVER? lol!

If you think, Alice in Wonderland and Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz have a lot in common: both girls are kind of stupid, they fall asleep and wake up in a total crazy world. They make some friends along the way to ask the local dictator to send them back home and eventually they end up messing around defeating those bad guys. Come on! Even their outfits are practically the same!

Of course MGM had the idea first, in 1939.
Disney's Alice in Wonderland was released in 1951.

I don't know if Walt Disney was ever interested in The Wizard of Oz, but it would sure be a masterpiece.

I totally love the way Glinda came out. I wanted to gather some references from the film and the musical outfit and try not to make her too young like the musical or too old like the film. And I never saw her using yellow.

SPOILER warning: For those who haven't read Wicked and Son of a Witch, Elphaba is the Wicked Witch of the West's name on the books and the musical. The phrase ELPHABA LIVES on the wall is a spoiler, but you'll only understand when reading the books!

EDIT: After so many years I posted this piece, now I know ALice came first and was kind of an inspiration to The Wizard of Oz.The book, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland came first. It was originally published in 1865. The Wonderful Wizard of Ozwas published thirty-five years later in 1900.

However, the famous movie, The Wizard of Oz predates Disney's animated Alice in Wonderland. The Wizard of Oz was released in 1939 and Alice in Wonderland was released in 1951.

Glinda DID wear yellow once: In the 70's Filmation animated film Journey Back to Oz, and in the musical Wicked.
