My 200th deviation!
I wanted to do something really cool, so I put aside the South American Way comic strips about the World Cup in Africa for a while.
And I really don't watch TV on Saturdays because I study in the morning and usually spend the rest of the day online, or sightseeing the city I live in. I really do love spending sunny afternoons at the gardens of the Imperial Museum.
Well, the idea for this piece came when my friend and co-creator Francisco, after seeing A New Friend, told me Europe was a real bitch because she didn't mind scoldind her kids for robbing Sister America.
I never thought of Europe of meaning or bitchy. I think of her more as absent-minded or aloof than a real bitch.
So here she is, supporting her sister with a song that says very much about them both: Miss Celie's Blues, from the original motion picture The Color Purple [link] .
It's sung by Tata Vega and it was covered by very excentric Brazilian contest winning singer Ricky Vallen here: [link] .
Some of the lines have everything to do with the whole Europe-America situation like "I'm something, I hope you think that you're something too" and "No twister gonna steal your stuff away"
I really love this song and I was very happy to do some art based on it.
